Kathleen Brooker

Kathleen Brooker became Executive Director of Historic Seattle in 2008 after serving for 15 years as President and Chief Executive Officer of Historic Denver. Previously, Kathleen served as Deputy State Preservation Officer of New Mexico and Executive Director of the Lowell (Massachusetts) Historic Board, where she led the city's historic preservation program and managed a 2,000 building National Register historic district. At Historic Denver, she supported the city, neighborhoods, business owners, and individuals in preserving their historic resources. In 2007, Kathleen was honored with the 2007 Award for Preservation Leadership from Colorado Preservation.

Kji Kelly

Kji Kelly is Director of of Real Estate for Historic Seattle with nearly 20 years of construction management experience specializing in restoring, adaptively re-using and maintaining historic structures. He worked for the Pennsylvania Capital Preservation Committee, a bi-partisan group dedicated to the restoration, preservation and maintenance of the 1906 Pennsylvania State Capital building. Kji was Project Manager for the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resource, Historic Sites Division, where he managed restoration projects at 27 historic sites around the state. He was also a Project Manager for the Facilities Management Department at Duke University, where he managed renovation and new construction projects on the early 20th century Collegiate Gothic campus. Kji has a B.A. in American Studies and Political Science from Dickinson College, and a Construction Management Certificate from the University of Washington. |
Larry Kreisman

Larry Kreisman has been Program Director for Historic Seattle since 1997, where he has initiated a large number of varied educational programs and events on architecture, design arts, and built heritage. He is an Honorary Member of AIA Seattle; has a B.A. from City College of New York; a M.A. in English literature from the University of Chicago; and a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Washington. Larry is co-author with Glenn Mason of The Arts and Crafts Movement in the Pacific Northwest and author of Made To Last: Historic Preservation in Seattle and King County, and numerous other books. Since 1988, he has written regularly on home design for Pacific Northwest, the Seattle Times magazine. Larry also served as architectural historian on the Seattle Landmarks Preservation Board from August 1995 until July 2003. In 1997, he was honored with the Washington State Historic Preservation Officer's Award for Outstanding Career Achievement in Historic Preservation. Larry’s partner is Wayne Dodge, a family practice physician—and Historic Seattle volunteer. |
Eugenia Woo

Eugenia Woo is Historic Seattle’s Director of Preservation Services. She has extensive experience in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Prior to joining Historic Seattle in 2009, Eugenia worked as a preservation consultant at Artifacts Consulting in Tacoma where she prepared National Register and local register nominations, conducted cultural resource surveys, and managed historic tax credit projects. She also was a Community Development Specialist in the City of Seattle's Department of Neighborhoods where she served as a coordinator for the International Special Review District and Columbia City Landmark District. Eugenia has a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley and a Master of Urban Planning and Preservation Planning certificate from the University of Washington. Eugenia is a co-founder and a past board member of Docomomo WEWA; and a board member of the Vernacular Architecture Forum; and former board member of the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation.

Luci J. Baker Johnson

Luci J. Baker Johnson became Historic Seattle’s Manager of Volunteer Services and Events in 2006. She is a freelance writer and historian with nearly 30 years of experience in nonprofit community involvement, including work with the American Red Cross in St. Paul, Minnesota as well as Seattle. In 2001, she began volunteering with Historic Seattle (annually donating over 200 hours) and also served on the Strategic Planning and Advocacy committees. In 2003, she was honored as the Historic Seattle Volunteer of the Year. She earned her B.A. in Sociology and a B.S. in Recreation from Moorhead State University in Minnesota. She lives in Ballard with her software-engineer husband Doug.

Dana Phelan

Dana Phelan is Historic Seattle's Membership Coordinator. She also manages the rental program at Washington Hall and serves as a resident caretaker of the building with her husband, Chad. Before moving to Seattle, Dana was a Project Design Assistant with the Texas Main Street Program. She has a M.S. in Historic Preservation from the University of Texas at Austin and undergraduate degrees in History and Earth Systems from Stanford University.

Cindy Hughes is Historic Seattle’s Administrative Assistant and Good Shepherd Center Coordinator. She received a B.A. in Urban Planning from the University of Washington and began working for Historic Seattle in 1980. Her responsibilities include organizational support for the Historic Seattle Council and coordination of the Hourly Rental program at the Good Shepherd Center. Cindy lives with her husband and two daughters in a 1910 Craftsman house on Queen Anne Hill.

Natalie McGovern-Borchers Historic Seattle's Bookkeeper has been
involved in the world of architecture and finance for over ten years.
Prior to joining Historic Seattle, Natalie worked as an architectural
drafter and independent bookkeeper specializing in architectural firms
and construction companies. Native to Seattle, Natalie has a passion
for architecture in both the natural and built environment, realizing
both the land and structure are part of our cultural heritage and in
need of preservation. Natalie is currently enrolled at Shoreline
Community College, concurrently pursuing her A.A.A.S in Accounting and
AA-DTA in Business.
