The Northwest Resource Center
Historic Seattle’s Northwest Resource Center and Patricia Fleck MacKay Historic Preservation Library at the Dearborn House builds on our strongly identified strengths in educational programming. When it opens in the near future, it will be the starting off place for people to find information about architectural styles and periods, specific data about their houses, their neighborhoods and downtown, and skilled design professionals and trades people to do restoration. Additionally, it will provide local and regional histories, biographies, landmarks process and procedures, comparative studies, public policy, environmental impact documents, unpublished reports and studies, and links to library resources to follow their paths of learning. Whether initiating contact remotely via the Internet or visiting the Center, the outcome will be the nurturing of the preservation ethic in all ages.
The Resource Center will also be the umbrella for many of Historic Seattle’s education, advocacy, and outreach programs to the community. Beginning this year our Educational program lists events under the aegis of the Northwest Center rather than our former heading, Neighborhood Exploration.
