Historic Seattle's Advocacy Committee
is not active at this date. In the past the
committee has met to discuss specific projects and issues and recommend
action for the organization to take. The committee has also reviewed
and amended Historic Seattle's list of sites in Seattle and
King County that are endangered for a number of reasons: development
threats; poor stewardship and neglect; proposed additions or
modifications; or changes to the contextual environment. The
list, drawn from suggestions solicited from the community,
draws local attention to the treasures in our own back yard,
gives communities an opportunity to publicize their concerns,
and serves as a method by which Historic Seattle can identify
properties that require inventory, study, and may in fact become
future development projects for our organization. Additional
responsibilities vary according to specific needs and may include
research, documentation, and community outreach.
