Giving
You can financially support Historic Seattle in two important
ways:
- Donate to the General
Fund, which supports our ongoing advocacy, education
and preservation programs; and
- Donate to the Save
the Buildings Fund , which saves and rehabilitates
irreplaceable buildings
Historic Seattle must raise its entire operating budget each
and every year. While membership dues and event registrations
defray some of our operating expenses, far greater resources
are required to sustain our programs. Your donation to the General
Fund helps us continue what we've been doing for 30 years
- advocating for preservation, educating the public about historic
architecture and interior design, and protecting threatened
buildings.
The Save the Buildings Fund is a separate
pool of resources, which are held aside for emergencies. With
this resource, Historic Seattle can act immediately when a
building is threatened without dipping in to the organization's
operating funds. To date, Save the Buildings Funds have helped 13
property owners whose historic buildings were damaged in the
2001 Nisqually earthquake, saved the 1889 Cadillac Hotel in
Pioneer Square from demolition, and preserved and rehabilitated
the modernist Egan House in East Lake.
