Bungalow Fair Volunteer Positions

Volunteers ARE what make the Annual Bungalow Fair a reality. Below are a number of volunteer opportunities that surround the Fair; pre-event, during the Fair weekend, and post-event. All volunteers are members of Historic Seattle. Volunteers who work at the Bungalow Fair are invited to enter for free.

Volunteer Opportunities during the Bungalow Fair Weekend

Daniel Lees and Michael Stenston, staff the Build booth – answering questions Kim is one of the many volunteers who offer to ‘sit in your booth’ while the exhibitor takes a personal or lunch break. Ryan Kozie, is one of the many volunteers who work the front tables, selling tickets to Fair goers
Volunteers, Ron Moore and Sue Derosa, assist with load-in and load out on Friday (all day) and Sunday after 4pm

Below is a list of the various volunteer opportunities available during the weekend.

8th Avenue Greeter: Greets people, answers questions, draws attention to the signage. Must like to interact with people and be friendly. 4-hour shifts on both Saturday and Sunday
Ticket Sales: Take/process payment, handout information, give directions, answer questions. Must like to interact with people and be friendly, comfortable with handling cash, checks, and credit card payments. 4 hour shifts on both Saturday and Sunday
Helping Hand: Assist the public with putting on their wrist bands. Act as go-fers for the Ticket Sellers. 4 hour shifts on both Saturday and Sunday
Lobby Greeter: Greet people, answer questions, draw attention to the signs, give directions, etc. Must be assertive, friendly and willing to engage the public in conversation. 3 hour shifts on both Saturday and Sunday
Lecture Ticket Taker: Stand at the entry of the lecture hall and take tickets. Special instructions will be provided for those who don’t have a ticket. After the lecture begins, do a head count of the number of people in the hall. Must be assertive, friendly and willing to engage the attendees in conversation. Also be able to handle difficult scenarios.  
Exhibitor Check-In: Check in Exhibitors at the downstairs door. Provide instructions and answer questions. 2 hour shifts on both Saturday and Sunday – early morning
Announcer: Using the PA system, make announcements throughout the day about upcoming activities; lectures, book signings, and general announcements.  

 

Volunteer Opportunities during the weeks and months prior to the Bungalow Fair

Poster Distribution:

Take posters to area bookstores, antique shops, libraries, malls, etc. and solicit permission to post the Poster. The same with event postcards.

Office Support:

Assist the Program Director, Larry Kreisman and the Events Manager, Luci Baker Johnson with mailings, logistics, and other duties. Must be available during office hours at the Dearborn House.
