The primary goal of the Northwest Resource Center for Preservation and the Patricia Fleck MacKay Historic Preservation Library is to expand knowledge about historic preservation. Housed at the Dearborn House, the Resource Center is an education and advocacy initiative of Historic Seattle that will support the organization’s mission. When the Resource Center opens in the near future, it will offer information about architectural styles and periods, local houses and neighborhoods, as well as “how to” information for both trades people, design professionals and do it yourself homeowners. Additionally, it will provide local and regional histories, biographies, landmark process and procedures, comparative studies, public policy, environmental impact documents, unpublished reports and studies, and profiles of other organizations throughout the Pacific Northwest with historic preservation themed collections. The Resource Center will be the umbrella for many of Historic Seattle’s education, advocacy, and outreach programs to the community.
