William B. Phillips Apartments

Description: This wood frame "double dwelling" is composed in a neo-classical manner. Its two story height is capped by a deeply recessed classic pediment. A rounded bay window - an important element in maximizing daylight - rises two stories, ending under the cornice.

The William B. Phillips Apartments was designed as a two-family duplex structure of wood frame construction with three stories over a partial basement. The building is attractively detailed and exhibits architectural elements and materials representative of First Hill neighborhoods of the time. Rehabilitation of this property allows for 11 units of low-income housing.

The property is owned by Historic Seattle and was ready for occupancy in November of 1993. The William B. Phillips Apartments is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
